The question

What would make an AI investment number useful to someone planning capacity? Start with the boundary of the number. A supplier reports revenue, a buyer reports investment, and an operator reports service. Their records can describe the same chain without measuring the same event.

A worked reading

Our AI revenue ladder follows Microsoft's FY2025 Q4 disclosure. The useful move is to separate lease recognition from operating use, and an annual revenue total from the assets acquired in one quarter. The result is a more precise request for evidence: identify the assets, the operating window and the service delivered.

The bottleneck after the chip supplies the physical counterpart. Power connection, commissioning and commercial use are different milestones. The energy reading guide places those milestones within system demand and financing.

The next useful observation

For a named project, look for a commissioning record that can be matched to an operating interval. A changed forecast or a larger investment announcement may matter, but neither fills that gap. The power-delivery Signal keeps the verification question visible.

A question for your work

Choose one capacity assumption in a plan you use. What document would establish that the capacity is available, and which date does the plan currently use instead?
