The development

The IEA’s 5 October announcement calls for diversification, efficiency, electrification and stronger emergency arrangements in Southeast Asia. It projects average electricity demand growth of around 5.4% a year over 2026–2030. The forecast covers the region; it does not describe an individual grid or customer. International Energy Agency ↗

Why it matters

An electrification plan has to address the electricity service that replaces direct fuel use. The review provides a policy framework for examining these connections, including national differences and regional cooperation. International Energy Agency ↗

Read the record

Read the IEA report for its scope and policy recommendations. For a specific facility, examine the local connection, supply arrangements and emergency provisions before treating a regional projection as a delivery outcome.
