Book proposals
Bring a book to OPEN VARIABLE Publishing.
Start with the book and its readers
Send a short proposal that explains what the book offers, who it is for and why those readers will choose it. We welcome approaches from authors and their agents, including proposals for completed manuscripts and works in progress.
What to include
- Working title and a concise synopsis of the book.
- Intended readers, the need the book meets and its distinctive contribution.
- An outline or table of contents, estimated word count and manuscript status.
- A brief author biography and the experience relevant to this project.
- Comparable titles and how this book differs in approach, subject or readership.
- The publishing rights available, existing editions or agreements, and agent details where applicable.
Sharing material
Begin with a concise summary through our proposal form. Describe the supporting material you have available, such as an outline or sample. Please wait for an invitation before sending a complete manuscript or confidential documents.
Publication and rights
Publication is arranged by agreement with the author or authorized rights holder. Sending a proposal does not transfer copyright or grant publication rights. Rights, editorial scope, formats, schedules and commercial terms are agreed for the individual project.
